City Manager
About the City Manager
Mike Ahrens joined the City of Mount Pleasant in January 2009. Before coming to Mount Pleasant, Mike was employed with the City of Atlanta where he served as city manager for nine years. During his career he has also held positions as assistant city manager and chief of police for Atlanta, Chief of Campus Police for South Plains College, Levelland, Texas and police officer in Hereford, Texas.

Mike is a Certified Public Manager, holds an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement from South Plains College, a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in administrative leadership from Texas A&M Texarkana and is a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Institute.

Community Involvement
Involved in the community he serves, Mike's community involvement and memberships include Mount Pleasant Lions Club, Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, Texas City Management Association, East Texas City Management Association and Texas Police Association. Mike serves on the board of directors of the Texas City Management Association. He was recently appointed as one of twelve coach/advisors to help mentor other city managers across the state.

Along with his nationally published writing, his other hobbies include reading and sports.
